Afterburner for iOS

Afterburner is a fitness app for iPhone and iPad that promotes the fact that we burn calories for many hours after we engage in intense exercise.

  • Users are guided through workouts that consist of a sequence of exercises, using videos, timers and prompts.
  • By measuring their heart rate and perceived exertion at the end of the workout, we are able to estimate the calories they have burned and the increase rate at which they will burn calories over the next 12-24 hours.
  • We present them with a graph and send them notifications to keep them aware of their additional calorie burn. The aim is to help them form a healthy habit of routine exercise.
  • By prompting users to complete regular fitness tests and take regular photos of themselves, we can also measure and chart their fitness level to enable them to see long term improvement.
  • To provide interest and variation over a long period, users can compete in challenges against (or with) their friends and other users. Leaderboards, notifications and other updates are used to bring challenges alive and promote engagement.
